Grad Class are selling Calahoo Meats to help pay for their expenses for Grad.  If you would like a price list or to order, please see any graduate or stop by the school office.

Green Tip:

Save the Planet Tip:

Peel potatoes and carrots on to a piece of newsprint and place it all in the compost.  This saves water and the decomposing peels and newspaper becomes great soil

Halloween Activities:

Students are asked to dress up during lunch in the Junior and Senior High and directly after lunch for Elementary.  The really scary parade will begin at 1:00 with the grade 1 class beginning.  The Junior and Senior High students who are dressed in costume can welcome the elementary in the gym while costumes are being judged.  Grades 7-9 can begin Halloween activities following the costume judging.  Parents are welcome to join – If you DARE!!

Reminder:

Even in the Halloween Spirit, Bashaw School has a great, fun environment while ensuring safety and security for all.  We would ask that parents refrain from sending guns or knives as part of student costumes to school on Friday.

Healthy Active Schools

Healthy Active Schools is a recognition of the important role education has in promoting healthy lifestyles.  Bashaw School has Healthy Schools as a major focus with our ongoing philosophy towards personal development of the Mind, Body and Spirit.

Bashaw School is one of the few schools in the province awarded the Diamond Level of Quality Daily Physical Education.  This is the highest level award provided for offering a complete, quality phys. ed. program and Bashaw School has recieved this award for the last 10 years in a row.

With new nutrition guidelines out in schools, we felt it appropriate to send out some information to parents and guardians providing some examples of nutritious items that could be included in students lunches.  Over the coming weeks we will include this as well as some info on items that should not be included in lunches.

The topic for this week is dealing with ENERGY DRINKS.  These drinks are not for children or youth.  Labelling on the side of these can warns against the use by children, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women.  In the near future, Bashaw School will be looking at banning these products from our site (students will not be allowed to bring them to the school).  The reason this product is a danger is due to the extreme amounts of caffeine in them.  A small can like "Red Bull" has two times the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.  Large (mega) cans like "Monster" can have 6 to 10 times the amount.  If you wish to get more information please do not hesitate to call Mr. Middleton at the school.

Dare to Care:

Grades 7-9 will be attending an anti-bullying workshop on Wednesday Nov 5.  Thank you to Bashaw Ag Society for the use of their facility. Special thanks to Marion Hartel for arranging sponsorship.

School Fees:

Reminder to all parents who have outstanding school fees.  They are now due.  Please make arrangements by contacting Mrs. Schierman at the school office as soon as possible.

Thank you
