MEDICAL NOTIFICATION TO SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS

Background

It is recognized that for a large portion of the day, students who have a medical condition may be on a school bus and that it is important that school bus drivers have sufficient information regarding the students being transported.

 

Procedures

 

1. School administrative personnel shall send the “Transportation Services – Medical Alert” form home to every parent of students transported by a school bus in September.

 

2. The completed forms may be returned to the driver, the school, or the Divisional Office.

 

3. All forms must be forwarded to the Divisional Office to ensure that the relevant school bus driver and\or spare bus drivers serving the student are notified of the information on the medical alert form.

 

4. If the medical condition of a student requires the use of an EpiPen, school bus drivers will be trained on the proper use of this medication.
