A Program made possible by the Student Health Initiative Partnership

Intended for students from ECS to grade 12 and their parents, the Family School Liaison Program offers support services, and acts as a resource to families and individuals who may be experiencing difficulties at home or at school. The Family-School Liaison Program may be an extension of existing services, or for those students and their families who are not currently involved with other support services.

The Program:

  • Provides education and counselling to children, youth, and parents to help them positively manage challenging issues and events.
  • Focuses on the child, is community-based and available to children, youth and their families.
  • Facilitates the family’s functioning and encourages well being.

Student Health Initiative Partnership (SHIP)

In April 1999, the Alberta Government introduced a new program designed to enhance services to children with special needs.

As part of Alberta Children’s Initiative, SHIP represents a partnership among Children’s Services, Education, Health, and Mental Health. The partnership works at community, regional, and provincial levels.

SHIP enables children with special health needs, and their families, to have access to services they would otherwise not receive.

SHIP has made the Family-School Liaison Program possible in this community. Any child attending school who is experiencing emotional, behavioral, communication or physical problems is eligible for this program.

You can contact the Family-School Liaison Worker through the school in your community.

We honour your privacy and confidentiality.
