BRSD #31 initiative offers education and life skills training


 

Young mothers under the age of 25 and their preschool aged children are the focus of the Learning Together Program.  The program offers academic courses as well as life skills, parenting and employability training.  The program offers on-site child care in the licensed Early Childhood Development Accredited Center.

Through a supportive environment, create every opportunity for young mothers and their children to be well-rounded, productive community members.

Through community partnerships, empowering participants to enhance their academic, parenting, life and employability skills while providing quality early childhood development programming.

 

Program Objectives

 

1) Increase high school completion rates for young mothers.

2) Provide opportunities for students to increase their employability skills.

3) Provide and facilitate support and education for young mothers in their roles as parents.

4) Provide and facilitate opportunities for children to come to school ready to learn and to have a healthy start to their lives.

5) Use an asset based approach to increase self-worth, self-reliance and confidence.

 

Referrals

Potential students under the age of 25 who do not have a high school diploma and have at least one preschool aged child are eligible. 

Referrals are welcomed and encouraged from potential students and community agencies.  Please see the attached link to our referral form.  Referral forms can be faxed to 672-8772.
