Superintendent's Message to Parents - March 2023

With the arrival of March, we are all noticing the longer days and beginning to feel hopeful that spring is just around the corner. Clocks will jump ahead one hour on the second Sunday of this month - March 12. That’s a sure sign that we are leaving winter behind!
Upcoming
Basketball season is winding down, with final games and tournaments scheduled in the next few weeks. At the same time, three of our schools are making final preparations for International Travel trips this month.
All BRSD schools will be taking Spring Break from Monday, March 27 to Friday, March 31. Students and school staff return on Monday, April 3. Our Division offices, which includes Business, Facilities, Finance, Learning and Technology staff, will remain open.
The Board of Trustees is conducting an Attendance Boundary Review this spring. They are hosting four opportunities for you to provide input. The agenda for all four events is the same, so please attend whichever one suits your schedule. They are taking place at 6:30 p.m. on:
Monday, March 20: Ryley School
Tuesday, March 21: New Norway School
Monday, April 3: Ecole Camrose Composite High School
Tuesday, April 4: Killam Public School
Budget News
The Provincial Government released their budget for the coming year on February 28. While the initial numbers look positive, we won’t receive information about exactly what funding will be allocated to our school division until later this month. We will share more details when they become available. In the meantime, check this link for a message to parents from the Minister of Education.
